Canadians hit in Sony Ericsson data breach

Sony is under fire again as it was revealed on Wednesday that 2,000 customers of its Sony Ericsson venture in Canada may have had their information taken with an online security breach.

sony for axiatelA Sony spokesman said customers’ names, email and encrypted passwords may have been taken from a company website. Atsuo Omagari said no credit card information was taken.

The breach was discovered Tuesday, and there are no reports of damage from the breach.

This latest breach comes just days after Sony restarted its PlayStation Network.

The PlayStation network went offline on April 19 when Sony discovered that hackers had access to personal information on 100 million PlayStation Network, Qriocity and Sony Online Entertainment accounts worldwide.
