Orange’s head of mobile services, Anne Bouverot, in Reuters said that Apple has submitted a new requirement for a smaller SIM card. The submission was made to the European Telecoms Standards Body (ETSI). The new SIM would be smaller than the current one in the iPhone 4 and iPad.
With the sponsorship of telecom companies, including Orange, the applications has been submitted for get smaller sim card standardised. If the application accepted and smaller sim card is done, we will see it in the new iPhone next year, which presumably will be thinner one.
